Why I’m Running for School Board
The first question many ask when they hear about my decision to run for the Stillwater Area Schools Board of Education is, “Why are you running?”
My decision to run was made after talking with many in this community who, like me, believe leadership makes a difference. We need a board majority focused on the issues and policies that have the greatest impact on student success and achievement. I’m passionate about education and proud of our school district. We have so much to be proud of in Stillwater Area Schools, and we need to embrace that and build on it. I am optimistic, but I am also realistic, and it’s critical that we adapt quickly to meet the changing and growing needs of students and families across the district.
I want to be part of the important work of strengthening our school district by representing the perspectives and voices of everyone who has a stake in this, especially our students. By any measure, it’s about helping them succeed. We have talented and committed teachers and staff who have dedicated themselves to this goal. They deserve the tools and support that allow them to bring out the best in each student in their care.
So, in a nutshell, this is why I am running:
To benefit every student at every grade level wherever they attend school with clear, decisive action.
To lead through the respectful sharing of ideas that produce thoughtful solutions based on the facts and guided by an unwavering commitment to our students.
To make sure the limited financial resources of the district are spent for the benefit of students.
To turn the page forward, representing the whole district with an open mind and with a commitment to doing my best for all.
Our students deserve nothing less.
