About Alison

Alison Sherman has called the Stillwater Area School District home since 2005. She and her husband, Garth, have two adult sons and have built strong connections throughout the community.

Alison was elected to the Stillwater Area School Board in 2020. In addition to her local board responsibilities, she currently serves as Chair of the Stillwater Area School Board, Chair of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD) and participates in the Minnesota School Boards Association Delegate Assembly, where she advocates for resources and policies that strengthen public education across Minnesota.

Before serving on the school board, Alison worked for more than ten years as an Educational Assistant, giving her firsthand experience supporting students and educators. She also has a professional background in marketing and communications consulting.

Throughout her board service, Alison has been committed to transparency and community engagement. She authors her "What You Need to Know" board meeting summaries to help community members better understand district discussions, decisions, and challenges.
